Concurring with the other six exhibitions, Hong Kong International Medical and Healthcare Fair organized by Hong Kong Trade Development Council was held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 27 to 30 Oct 2021. This year, 11 innovative projects covering screening and detection, medical treatment and rehabilitation, were exhibited.

On the first day, Dr. Norman Nai-pang LEUNG (Fifth Left), chairman of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Council; and Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Martin D.F. WONG (Fourth Left) , visited two CUHK booths in Hong Kong International Medical and Healthcare Fair and International ICT Expo 2021.

Prof. Patrick Ming Kuen TANG (centre) from Department of Anatomical and Cellular Pathology and his team. Their project ”A Novel Virus-Free Anticancer Gene Therapy”, was awarded Gold Medal with Congratulations of the Jury Medal in the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva 2021.
Prof. Raymond TONG demonstrated the portable wearable robotic hand for rehabilitation of patients after stroke. The device enables the patients to conduct the training at home and complete activities of daily living (ADL).
Prof. Tin Lap LEE (Left) from School of Biomedical Sciences also visited the booth in person. He introduced the outcomes of his project concerning Vitro Fertilization.
Two projects developed by Prof. Maggie Haitian WANG (centre) were showcased in this exhibition. They are “Virus Mutation Prediction and Vaccine Antigen Design” and “Complex Disease Screening Using Human Genome Data” respectively.
Members of Prof. Li ZHANG’s team from Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering introduced the automatic infectious pathogens detection system named “QuickCAS” to the guests.
The prototype of project “Intelligent Magnetic Anchored and Guided Endoscope for Minimally Invasive Surgery” was exhibited. Members of Prof. Zheng LI’s research team from Department of Surgery demonstrated the project with the prototype and an anatomical model.
Prof. Weitian CHEN’s research team members presented the uniqueness of project “Non-invasive Diagnosis of Liver Fibrosis”.
Visitors tried the “Smart Therapeutic Device for Knee Osteoarthritis” developed by Prof. Ling QIN from Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology.
The guests listened to the introduction of the theories of “Portable Formaldehyde Sensor with Sub-ppb Sensitivity” presented by the team member of Prof. Wei REN’s group.
Representatives from Hospital Authority visited CUHK booth at Hong Kong International Medical and Healthcare Fair to look for latest innovations from our university.
