The objective of this project is to develop the world’s first augmented reality smart glasses for people with color vision deficiency. We plan to develop a stand-alone device which combines the most cutting-edge color correction technology with AR technology to help the visually impaired to regain color sensibility as well as the ability to communicate color information in their daily life. We will optimize the image transformation algorithm for the selected hardware platform. It will be equipped with color vision and binocular vision control which cannot be found in any of the electronic glasses in the market. The developed lightweight, adaptive AR smart glasses will allow people with color vision deficiency to receive real-time color information at any time and any place. It is anticipated that the platform could help colorblind people and their families have an early identification of the color vision deficiency and improve their visual quality so as to lead an enjoyable life in the community.
